Clarification for Coaches along with our Preliminary Coach Training Dates,
As many of you know, effective August 1st, AYSO National is now mandating
that coaches be certified to or above the level of team that they are
coaching. Intermediate Coach certification is necessary for coaching a U14
team and Advanced Coach certification is necessary for U16 and U19. The
national rule states that this is required for inter-sectional games and
tournaments including the 2010 National Games in Florida. Section 2 has
adopted a much more stringent policy (any sanctioned tournament including
post-primary season tournaments) and a big push to get everyone certified so
that coaches have the level of training that parents are calling for.
At this point, Region 45 plans on reimbursing anyone who takes and completes
Advanced Coach certification or any of the Coach Instructor certifications
at Golden Gate Camp and the same holds true for referees (Advanced,
National, Instructors and Assessors). We have not budgeted the money to send
people to Intermediate Coach training at GGC as there will be ample
opportunities locally to take that training (see below). If July 17-19 is
the only weekend that works for you for Intermediate Coach certification
training, please contact me and we will consider this on a case by case
basis depending on how many other requests we get.
If you would like to attend Golden Gate Camp, please contact your Coach
Administrator, your Referee Administrator or your Regional Commissioner (me)
for approval.

Beyond Golden Gate Camp, here is our preliminary coach training schedule for
Region 45. Once we confirm the dates and the venues, we will post this to

Note that you can also take coach and referee certification training outside

Jose (www.ayso2j.org) and Area 2N covers Redwood City north to Belmont (
www.ayso2n.org).
Friday June 5th through Sunday June 7th - Area 2N sponsored Intermediate
coach certification (www.ayso2n.org for more information)
For any coach and referee training session, you need to RSVP so that the
Region or Area putting on the training can have adequate number of handouts
and account for you for lunch.
Please make room in your calendars now for the upcoming coach certification
class that you will be taking.
Thanks,
Drew
