Hello Coaches,

As we near the end of our fall season, it is time for the end of season
administrative functions including player evaluations, equipment collection
(including signed registration forms) and the handing out of the medals (we
are using medals as our player appreciation gift this season instead of
trophies).

*Player Evaluations*

Please log onto Web Youth Soccer and from your Coach tab, select Evaluations
and rate your players. Please rate the players in reference to all players
in the division. A "9 - Excellent" should be reserved for the top 3 or 4
players in a division as these are the players that teams will be formed
around for next year. 8's should be used sparingly as well. The majority of
the players should rate between a 4 and a 6 with a fair number of 3's and
7's.

Your overall average rating for your team should reflect your team's
relative strength in your division. If you end the season with 5 wins and 5
losses, then the rating of your players should average out to around a 5. If
you are one of the top teams in your division than something closer to an
average of 6 would be appropriate and if success hasn't found your team this
season, then something averaging closer to a 4. For U10 and below, please
factor in the schedule re-balancing at mid-season.

The Goal Keeper rating is not factored into the overall rating of a player.
Use the Goal Keeper rating for those players who played Goal Keeper or how
they would have been had they played there and use "No Rating" if not
applicable (such as U6 and U7).

Please rate all players for both Offense and Defense even if they
specialized and only played one or the other.

Please use the comments. You are not asked to justify your rating, but this
is an area where you can indicate relative speed of a player, practice ethic
and such. Here are some examples that I have used:

Speed: Avg; Endurance: Avg; Aggressiveness: Tentative; Kick: Below Avg;
Skills: Avg; Comments: Can be tentative, but she is better than she thinks
she is. Still toes the ball.

Speed: Fast; Endurance: Above Avg; Aggressiveness: Above Avg; Kick: Avg;
Skills: Avg; Comments: Aggressive defensive player. Sometimes lacks focus -
definitely at practice and on occasion, early in games.

WARNING: Click *Submit* periodically during your evaluations (maybe every 5
minutes). We have had coaches in the past spend a lot of time on detailed
comments then have Web Youth Soccer time them out and they have to re-do
their evaluations as nothing was saved. You can always go back in after
clicking Submit.

Assistant Coaches have access to this too and are more than welcome to
evaluate players in addition to the head coach. Your DC will contact you if
there is a major disparity between the head coach and assistant coach
ratings.

*Equipment Collection and Medal Handout*

Medals are given to all players except in our U16 and U19 divisions, but are
only given to coaches *after* their player evaluations are complete.

Saturday at Bubb. *Please complete your player evaluations prior to
Saturday.*

If you are a U12 or U14 team participating in or are still in the running to
participate in the AYSO Area 2A tournament on December 5th and 6th, please
hold onto your equipment and registration forms until after the conclusion
of the tournament. Instructions will be sent pertaining to the collection of
this equipment. *Please perform your evaluations ahead of the tournament and
pick up your medals on November 21st.*

U14 Girls and U14 Boys medals will be handed to you by your division
coordinator ahead of or at your games this weekend or they will contact you
for pickup.

If you absolutely must have your medals ahead of Saturday November 21st,
please contact me at rc at ayso45.org and I will make arrangements for you to
pick them up. This does not apply to the U6 division as I am no longer in
possession of these medals.

Thanks,
Drew
